We’ve all heard this cliched saying, “Your attitude determines your altitude!” This is the part where you probably exit the post, right? Don’t! I have a bit of a different view on things. Attitude creates happiness
Of late, I’ve made a very serious and profitable distinction- people are your business. Incredible, I know. But have you ever really taken the time to determine how YOUR attitude is affecting those around you? Having a great attitude attracts people, makes situations easier to deal with, creates better leaders, creates happier employers and/or employees and puts you in a space of i-n-f-l-u-e-n-c-e. Yes, that thing we all so badly want. We want to be able to get people to see our point of view, and I believe that attitude plays a few key roles in creating a successful business.
1. People like people who have good attitudes about life. “You’re in the people business, not product business” Richard Branson. Having a great product should be a given, taking care of people and going the extra mile should be the mission. Every. Single. Day.
2. Your staff will want to be around someone with a great attitude. Your staff are like sponges around you. If the head of your company is shouting about “those effing idiots!”(talking about his client), how do you think the staff will start talking about clients? It’s about leadership, and ensuring that every detail be addressed and done purposefully. Ignorance is not an excuse.
3. Your attitude will keep you feeling successful even when you could be throwing in the towel. This is the big one. Happy, positive people generally have a longer rope of tolerance and a higher endurance to negativity or “things not going their way”. This is a super power that can see you through the rainy patches until the sun is out again. “Success is going from failure to failure without a lose of enthusiasm!”
